I’ve been there, trust me...

I was working as an operational manager for a start-up, about to land it’s first big customer, and then came the three-page security questionnaire. Data policies, threat assessments, incident response plans. Suddenly, ad-hoc policies weren’t enough…maybe we need an ISO 27001 certification?

Overwhelmed by research and then we got the overpriced excel sheets.

I did what anyone would do, I started researching. But ISO 27001 quickly felt like a massive and overwhelming task. So i tried some free templates, and of course an overpriced Excel system that claims to “simplify” everything.

I found that simple affordable resources for (small) growing companies were hard to find.

Most solutions are built for large enterprises. They assume you have a dedicated compliance team and months to implement security measures. But what about small but growing businesses, with large customers?

So I started building my own solution with the help of an ISO27001 expert.

And I actually managed to build a system in Notion that got us certified with ease for many years, even impressing the external auditor. And that got me thinking, could this help other companies just like us?
